Urban and School Bus RUB Compliant CCTV

SS Elite CCTV Range

Providing reliable and effective video recording systems has been at the heart of S & S Security Solutions Ltd since it’s founding.

The new generation ofMobile Digital Video Recorders (MDVR) provide improved functionality while maintaining the uncompromising reliability S & S products are known for.

The Elite series MDVR range

The Elite series are purpose built MDVR and are designed to withstand the extreme environment inside commercial vehicles. These factors range from extreme vibrations and shock loads to thick dust and water exposure. The design of the Elite series ensures that the MDVR can stand up to these challenges while delivering class leading performance and reliability. Elite series MDVR’s are sealed to IP54 ensuring dust and water do not penetrate the housing while HDD shock absorption mounts and hardened internal circuit boards are rated up to 8G of vibration and shock loading.

Class leading H-265 Compression

The Elite series are among the first MDVR’s offering the next generation of video compression. H-265 compression uses half of the data requirements of the industry standard H-264 format for the same video period and quality.

This will double the time period of footage able to be stored on a given storage device and halve the data rate required to transfer footage. This can offer considerable savings from mobile data transfers as well as increasing transfer speeds on local networks.
All Elite MDVR’s connect to the CMS program providing one point of contact to access all recorders from the series and utilise the full functionality of each MDVR.

Very Small Bus / Small Bus

The Small Bus (SB) and Very Small Bus (VSB) categories deliver particular challenges when considering a CCTV solution.

Most VSB and SB types are best suited by an SS Elite 4 CH system with two internal and two external-facing cameras. As these vehicles are usually built from Vans and Van Chassis, there are many additional factors to consider when specifying a CCTV system for installation. S & S can assist in creating a solution that meets current RUB regulations and your requirements.

Medium Bus / Large Bus / Very Large Bus

The flexible and modular nature of a SS Elite CCTV System provides an electronic foundation for an urban service bus. A high-quality, reliable RUB-compliant CCTV solution can integrate with countless additions such as passenger counting, driver fatigue monitoring, and ADAS systems.

Let us work with you and integrate with your existing CCTV equipment. Where practical existing cables, cameras, and 3rd party systems can be combined with our SS Elite MDVR and cameras to minimize the initial expense of compliance.

Converted Urban Bus

Urban Service Vehicles that have been converted to School Bus use may need CCTV updates and reconfiguration to be compatible with current MOE regulations. Often the size of these vehicles require camera systems of 3 or more cameras to provide adequate survailence coverage.

S & S offers approved modular CCTV systems with 2 – 4 cameras to meet your School Bus requirements

Truck Bus

The New Zealand Truck Bus has become a popular option for operators building new vehicles for School Bus work. The unique layout of these vehicles requires a flexible CCTV system to meet Ministry of Education requirements.

S & S has relationships with bus builders that enable a compliant CCTV system to be installed in build to your specification, reducing installation costs and improving quality.

Van

Van installations of CCTV require special care during installation and when selecting components. Unlike buses there are often no provisions for CCTV equipment such as lockers for the video recorder.

S & S has a long history of working with Van and Truck installations and has developed techniques and equipment to integrate more seamlessly into the vehicle.

Ministry of Education approved CCTV systems are available to be customized for different vehicle types and client specifications.

Optional Integrations

  • Passenger Counting

A passenger counting add-on enables accurate recording of passenger numbers by use of heat-tracking cameras mounted in doorways.

Information passed on to the CMS software can
paint a clear picture of passenger movements at every stage of a journey.

  • ADAS

Driver Monitoring Systems such as the SSIDA can be integrated with all Elite MDVR models. Interventions from the ADAS can link to a MDVR to produce reports, save images of the incident or push alerts through 3G/4G to the CMS software.

This functionality can provide additional insight into incidences or allow operations staff to take action to prevent an dangerous situation.

  • Driver Swipe Card Log-in

Personalised key cards presented by a driver to a reader logs the driver in, enabling the CMS software to build a driver profile with reporting on all parameters recorded by the system. This can assist with implementing targeted training without resources being devoted to auditing drivers.

  • IP Camera Expandability

Up to four IP cameras can be added on to the system. This is in addition to the eight main cameras by way of an expansion box. IP cameras can offer increased resolution over traditional 720p and 1080p HD. However, additional storage resources needed to support the extra resolution of the IP cameras reduces the capacity to store a meaningful time frame of footage.

  • OBD2 / J1939 Reporting

Vehicle status reporting to the CMS software can be facilitated by an OBD2 add-on to the MDVR system.

Using standard J1939 protocol, vehicle information can be read by the MDVR and uploaded to vehicle status reports on the CMS software.

Alerts such as low oil pressure, low coolant and excessive fuel consumption can be pushed through the CMS to alert operations and workshop. Subject to vehicle compatibility.

  • Driver Monitoring and Fatigue System

The DMS is a versatile and compact, stand alone driver monitoring solution. It analyses the drivers facial features to identify warning signs of fatigue and distraction.

Life saving alerts are delivered to the driver via audible prompts and optional seat/steering wheel vibration unit.
